Learn how some of Avistar’s clients have leveraged this technology to benefit their business:
The European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company N.V. (EADS) is a large pan-European aerospace defense corporation and a leading defense and military contractor worldwide. The group includes Airbus as the leading manufacturer of commercial aircraft, with Airbus Military covering tanker, transport and mission aircraft; Eurocopter as the world’s largest helicopter supplier; Astrium, the European leader in space programmes from Ariane to Galileo; and Cassidian as a provider of comprehensive and integral systems solutions for aerial, land, naval and civilian security applications.
Avistar solutions have been selected by EADS to deliver commercial grade desktop videoconferencing to key individuals within their Astrium division. Whether working on complex launch procedures for their Ariane space rocket and terrestrial cargo system or developing new components for the ISS (International Space Station), Astrium uses Avistar to ensure that their visual communications are precise, reliable and vibrant. When something as important and complex as space technology in on the line, Avistar is there to ensure people can communicate and collaborate anywhere and anytime.
Starting in 1967 as a single office, SASCO has prospered as an electrical contractor and construction industry consultant. After years of successful operations Sasco has grown to understand what it takes to become the best. Sasco is the largest electrical contractor in the western region and one of the largest privately held in the United States.
Avistar solutions were selected by Sasco to power their virtualized desktop videoconferencing needs. This includes using Avistar in the office and also in the field, allowing Sasco employees to better communicate and support the needs of their clients.
Billiton’s roots trace back to 1860 and a tin mine on a little known island in Indonesia, Billiton (Belitung) island. Billiton became a global leader in the metals and mining sector and a major producer of aluminium and alumina, chrome and manganese ores and alloys, steaming coal, nickel and titanium minerals. Billiton also developed a substantial and growing copper portfolio.
Broken Hill Proprietary’s rich history began in a silver, lead and zinc mine in Broken Hill, Australia. Incorporated in 1885, BHP engaged in the discovery, development, production and marketing of iron ore, copper, oil and gas, diamonds, silver, lead, zinc and a range of other natural resources. BHP was also a market leader in value-added flat steel products. The merger of two great companies.
BHP and Billiton merged in June 2001 becoming one of the world’s largest diversified resources company and now have significant positions in major commodity businesses including aluminium, energy coal and metallurgical coal, copper, manganese, iron ore, uranium, nickel, silver and titanium minerals, and substantial interests in oil, gas, liquefied natural gas and diamonds.
The BHP Billiton Group uses Avistar solutions to power their viturualized visual communications strategy globally.
The Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the California State University, Fresno leverages the university system’s vast resources–with 23 campuses the CSU is one of the largest higher education systems in the world–to assist innovators, entrepreneurs, students, and the community at large in the development of business and entrepreneurship.
Avistar enables Lyles Center staff, administrators, and faculty to meet face-to-face and collaborate on data through multiparty calls that are connected with a single click. Avistar also extended videoconferencing capabilities to several university programs that have operations off-campus, such as those found in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology and Engineering. The system has also grown to include 10 community colleges across the state, as well as service for remote advisory board members both in and out of state who can add significant value to meetings without having to leave their own offices. New efficiencies include improved social interaction and connectedness as well as reduced travel needs and costs. The system provides us with instant multiparty video, available right at our desktop–or even remotely when we travel.
MCV, which has an electrical capacity that represents approximately 10 percent of power consumption for Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, was purchased last year by EQT Infrastructure of Sweden and FORTISTAR of White Plains, N.Y. Members of the newly formed board were committed to ensuring a smooth transition and open lines of communication, but the board members were geographically dispersed across Michigan and three other states, while the chairman resided in Switzerland.
Since the installation of Avistar, MCV board members have been holding meetings via Avistar C3 Communicator™, reducing travel time and saving money. “In our post-sale environment, we still have the need for travel, but we definitely see desktop video conferencing filling that communications void that we felt in the early days after the acquisition,” said Bobbie McCue, Information Systems Manager at MCV.
As one of the world’s largest financial services group, this firm has leveraged Avistar solutions within its institutional, investment and corporate divisions for many years. Our desktop videoconferencing solutions are used in North America, Europe and Asia to provide an instantaneous video collaboration solution to individuals that make decisions in real time, move large amounts of assets based on market conditions and needs, while working with some of the world’s largest companies to finance their operating, inventory and manufacturing requirements.
On average, our clients use their Avistar solutions twice as much as their installed telephone systems. This occurs as clients quickly recognize the value of desktop videoconferencing over more traditional modes of communication. Within our financial services client base, our customers often spend more than 100 minutes a day on Avistar and in instances where “communication rich” business functions are active (such as equity trading), Avistar is used more than 400 minutes a day by these individuals.
This allows our financial services clients to improve their decision velocity, reduce errors while being more productive.
In addition to these great client successes, Avistar technology is also used by many of the leading technology providers within the videoconferencing and unified communications industries. Our technology partners and OEM success stories include successful product launches by Citrix, IBM, LifeSize Communications, Logitech and many others who have leveraged Avistar’s visual communications platform and technology to power their own solutions, extend their visual communications features and provide a smarter, more reliable and vibrant solution to their clients.
